Red Light in June - Biography

Energetic Cape Town rock band, Red Light in June, is making waves in the Cape Town music scene.

Formed in early 2007, the band is an eclectic mix of talented musicians. Natalie Jordaan, the undeniably sexy vocalist charms audiences with her impressive stage personality and the extraordinary voice that goes with it. Jacques Janson, the lead guitarist with fingers faster than lightning, rocks out on stage, showcasing awe-inspiring talent. Rhythm guitarist, John Tavener and Bassist, Vic Bergh wow crowds with their incredible skill, and last but not least, Matthew King, the band’s drummer, exhibits remarkable talent that is impossible to miss.

Red Light in June’s music is catchy and relevant melodic rock, with lyrics that appeal to people of all ages and walks of life. Performing at some of the best venues in the Western Cape, the band has gained a big reputation for themselves, playing at events with the likes of 12th Avenue, Fokofpolisiekar ,   Flat Stanley, Parlotones, Foto na dans etc. The band is currently play listed on MFM Radio, Rock out Radio and have a video on MK89. An interview and live performance on SABC2 “Hectic 9” helped give the band exposure to the broader market.

In 2008, Red Light in June signed a management contract with Mob Entertainment, followed by a Bowline Music distribution deal, shortly after the recording of their album “My Sweetest Revenge” which was produced by Moon Abrahams and recorded at the LMX studios in Cape Town.

The album showcases the many-faceted talents of all the band members and is highly entertaining, although it is a mere shadow of their live performance. As Natalie says “Buy our album and you can take us home with you”, and it’s well worth every cent you pay because after seeing them live, you will almost certainly be hooked.
